About
Robert Brickhouse began to hone his craft at Lamar University and the Texas Academy of Art, and from there began his career in commercial advertising as a graphic artist for the Houston Post as well as petroleum companies such as Exxon, Dowell Inc., and Brown and Root. As a teacher of art at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, he inspired hundreds of students to develop their skills and follow their dreams of becoming artists.
His work has been recognized with gold and silver medals from the Dallas, Denver and Houston Art Director’s Clubs; top awards from the Art League of Houston; and an Award of Excellence from the New York Society of Illustrators.
After a long career in the commercial advertising industry, he left to concentrate exclusively on fine art. His paintings are included in the private collections of Charlie Thomas, the former owner of the Houston Rockets; actor Clint Eastwood; Brown and Root and Powell Co. a series of paintings for their Paris offices.
Over the years he has exhibited in Houston at Meier gallery and in San Miguel de Allende at Meredith, Ra Luz, The Gallery and Lagundi Galleries, were he has e resident as well as Houston, Texas. This year has had an exhibition of his work at the Art Museum of Southeast Texas in Beaumont, texas.
